GENERAL CONDITION:  "Old" is a very good description for this cemetery.  There may not be any stones from the 1900's.  At one time this cemetery appeared to be very good size and there could be well over 1000 burials here.  But in 1997, there are only about 150 stones remaining, and most of them are either broken or too worn to be legible.  The grass has recently been mowed, and weeds are not a problem, but this cemetery is going to be very difficult to do because the stones are scattered and in such poor condition.  I would not recommend this cemetery for a beginner. [1997 Description] This cemetery was read by the Genealogical Society of Marion County in 1997, and published in both a softbound book and CD titled "Cemetery Readings of Pike Township." 

 

DIRECTIONS FROM DOWNTOWN:  Travel north on Michigan Rd. until you get to 71st St.  About 1/4 mile north of 71st St. is 76th St.  Turn right (east).  The cemetery is about 1/10th mile east of Michigan Rd. and sits on the right (south) adjacent to a house.
