5730 N. Post Rd.
GSMC Code: LA028 WPA Code: No. 59
The cemetery is on the west side of Post Road just north of 56th Street. This is in the former Fort Benjamin Harrison, but is now just south of the City of Lawrence’s new city offices.
The records included in this document/file were compiled from the 1898 Plat, the 1940 Walk-Through, the 1997 Anthropological Survey (Photographs and Alphabetical list), and available burial permits. Some questionable items have been included and identified. The original Plat information is often difficult to read and photocopies are used because of the original’s fragile condition.
The cemetery is oriented with the long side along Post Road. There are two gates and a U shaped drive that divides it into 3 major sections: North, Center, South. The U drive is designated North Drive, West Drive, and South Drive. The North section is the oldest with burials starting about 1834. The Center is within the U drive. The South is the newest section with burials starting about 1899. This picture also shows the E-W grass walkways and N-S cross-walks. All sections currently (2003) may have new graves.
SHAARD# CR-49-52.
The former Reddick Farm Cemetery was moved to Spring Valley during WW2 prior to the construction of the Army Finance Center building.
